Blessed Be Your Name

This morning in church, I had another "joy" shot. The message was about work, about how God has plans for us in our work, even if it's not the "perfect" job. David was the illustration-he started as a shepherd. While everyone was watching Saul, God was watching David. He was God's chosen person to be king, but that position was already filled. David needed time to prepare.
I realized 2 things: no matter how imperfect my life is...it's temporary. Someday it will be. And God's going to use every experience to prepare me for His purpose.

Romans 8:28-More Than Conquerors
28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

This was part of the music this morning (along with "Workin' for a Livin'" with its $100 car note, $200 rent...it's older than I thought!). I've always loved this song, sung by Tree63, but I have trouble blessing God in the "takes away" portion. But God doesn't waste anything, right?

Blessed Be Your Name

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
